I am a 59-year-old professional male with a wife and 3 children, 18, 12 and 11. I was recently treated in the New Dawn Detox and Rehabilitation/Recovery programs in Orangevale for 7 and 30 days respectively. I completed this program 2 weeks ago for severe alcohol abuse that had required hospitalization. There essentially are no programs available at this level or quality of care in northern Nevada. I can honestly say that this program is a complete success as it has me solidly on the road to recovery. I continue my support with them in their outpatient program locally as well as coordinating care with my GP, Psychiatrist and support meetings such as Alcoholics and Narcotics Anonymous. As a mature, experienced, highly educated person, everything was provided to me during the inpatient program that was necessary to help me fully understand the gravity of my situation and to realize that there was a way out, a solution to the situation that I had found myself in. I learned that alcohol had led me to a point where my life was in jeopardy and family relationships were about to disintegrate. Once I was stabilized, I experienced an immersive program of learning and self-care in their residential program. The breadth of the information presented in the curriculum is amazing and must be met with an open mind and willingness to learn. This being my first time in a program such as this I was a little resistant at first however, I quickly overcame that as I realized many issues that were contributing to my substance abuse and self-destructive behavior. The residences are comfortable and are more like a family atmosphere rather than institutional. Although sharing a room at first was unsettling, being in close proximity to another individual that is battling similar issues has much value. Friends will be made here during this experience and will serve as an integral part of therapy and possibly support in the future. The food as often mentioned in other reviews was simply amazing. It is varied and nutritious and an integral part of the holistic approach to health care and recovery that is being practiced here. Beef, Shrimp, Chicken, Pasta, Vegetarian or Vegan. The sauces or breakfasts cooked to order were all great. They aid in recovery now and are helping to establish good nutritional habits upon one's return to home. I understand that there are many programs available in California however if one were to decide immediately to come here upon looking at the New Dawn website or after making a phone call to the center that everything that is required to move on from a critical or life endangering situation will be provided. All is required is a desire to get better and if a person has any hesitation about their own sincere approach or desire to recover assistance will be given to help with personal resolve. I can say this as all the staff are very capable and fully committed to the success of those in their care. I have experienced that first hand. I highly recommend this program to anyone that wants assistance for themselves or a loved one who it is experiencing substance abuse issues.

Their detox program was solid. They had an onsite doctor, nurses, and were very accommodating. Food was excellent although you won't be hungry for most of your Detox stay. Residential setting, which was much much more comfortable and relaxing than being in a hospital. I had a private room, which was nice.

Clean rooms, professional staff, saw the Psychiatrist within 24 hours of admission. They also offered individual counseling with a masters level therapist during my short stay. I would recommend this program to anyone needing help with Detox and getting sober.

They got me in right away, and were checking on me constantly to make sure I was doing okay. I felt very safe and comfortable at New Dawn. I also liked that we had our own Detox house separate from the Women's house. Oh and the food was really good.

I was nervous about doing a detox program when it was first mentioned to me. New Dawn made it easy to over come that and become a healthier person to move onto treatment. Thank you New Dawn for your support and wonderful guidance.
